چکیده
Abstract. The main contribution of this paper is twofold. Firstly, it presents a new system for empirical investigations of evolving agent societies in SugarScapelike environments, which improves existing Sugarscape testbeds. Secondly, we introduce a framework for modelling communication and cooperation in an animal society. In this framework the environmental pressure to communicate and cooperate is controllable by a single parameter. We perform several experiments with different values for this parameter and observe some surprising outcomes.

Emerging communication and cooperation in evolving agent societies
The contribution of this paper is threefold. First, it presents a new software system for empirical investigations of evolving agent societies in SUGARSCAPE-like environments. Second, it introduces a conceptual framework for modeling cooperation in an artificial society. In this framework the environmental pressure to cooperate is controllable by a single parameter, thus allowing systematic inv...
متن کاملAgent-based evolving societies
This paper describes a method to build artificial societies that can dynamically expand themselves from bottom-up, in order to cope with environmental changes. This method is then applied to model the evolutions through the first stages of human societies, inspired by social science theories.
متن کاملEvolving agent societies that avoid social dilemmas
The social sciences literature abound in problems of providing and maintaining a public good in a society composed of self-interested individuals [8]. Public goods are social bene ts that can be accessed by individuals irrespective of their personal contributions. In our previous work we have demonstrated the use of genetic algorithms (GAs) for generating an optimized agent society that can cir...
متن کاملStabilization of tag-mediated interaction by sexual reproduction in an evolutionary agent system
The evolution of cooperation in a system of agents playing the iterated prisoner’s dilemma (IPD) is investigated. We present results for the standard two-person IPD as well as the more general N-person IPD (NIPD) game. In our computational model, agents can recognize each other and decide whether to interact or not, based upon “tags” (labels). We consider the evolutionary stability of the evolv...
متن کاملA Security Infrastructure for Trust Management in Multi-agent Systems
Multi-agent systems are based on the interaction of autonomous software components, the agents, which cooperate to achieve common goals. But such interactions, just as in human societies, can be set correctly only on the base of trust relations. This paper presents a security model founded on delegation certificates, which allows the management of security policies on the base of trust relation...
